Tailoring

Art Comes First, the fashion collective brainchild of Sam Lambert and Shaka Maidoh, known for their extensive collaborations with the likes of Fred Perry, were in residency at The Mandrake taking part in our Artist in Residence programme. Ahead of Men’s Fashion Week 2019, the duo utilised much of the hotel as a showroom, pop-up shop and exhibition space to unveil their newest collection.

Their residency culminated with a private party in The Mandrake’s infamous Penthouse hotel suite. The invitation-only event, in partnership with Nataal media,  drew the great and the good of the fashion industry and served as the unofficial opening launch party of Men’s Fashion Week, followed by an after party in the theatre with artists such as  Anais, Harris Elliott and duo 079me all performing.

the brand used our hotel Library as a showroom and pop up shop, open to the public throughout the residency.
An exhibition by Japanese artist  Takumi Tsuda depicting Art Comes First characters in action also took place.  Their residency included:
