HARIS NUKEM

Celebrated photographer and multimedia artist Haris Nukem offers a study of the human spirit in the 21st century. Renowned for his vibrant, cinematic portraits that explore themes of identity, spirituality, and societal critique, he reimagines contemporary figures as transcendent icons, blending diverse influences such as classical iconography with modern aesthetics to comment on hedonism, fame, and the search for meaning in a secular world. Nukem’s work is characterised by bold color palettes, dramatic lighting, and a theatrical approach that results in larger-than-life representations. His subjects often include friends and collaborators, emphasising personal connection and authenticity in his portrayals. The Mandrake welcomed Haris Nukem as Artist in Residence whereby the hotel was transformed into a stage set and studio space for a body of unique work later released in a book entitled ‘Ten Days at The Mandrake’.
